Cambodia Gambling Dens

[ English ]

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where casino wagering is not legal. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a generally tiny area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent destination, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; however, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 17:00, and even though visas are for all intents and purposes required to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat casino, contains 150 slots and sixty tables. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around resort and hotel complex that highlights a number of comforts aside from the gambling hall, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slots and 88 table games.
